Gigi Traore has fifteen plus years of political experience with a focus on young adult, collegiate and urban engagement. Traore’s activism began during her undergraduate tenure where she used hip-hop culture as a tool to engage the student body and administration on various issues as well as held a city-wide conference on the No Child Left Behind Act. Traore’s political advocacy led to her public service at the national, state and local arenas where she’s participated in legislative activism, voter engagement and educational issues ranging from green jobs, student debt, immigration, education, environmental and women and voter rights. As the founder of Power Network, a collegiate service-learning nonprofit specializing in leadership development, civic engagement, and policy study; she’s organized and managed 15 campuses, engaged over 18,000 college students through recruitment, voter registration, service projects and civic activities. Gigi believes in servant leadership and advocating for those traditionally excluded from social and civic participation.
Gigi will lead Campus Election Engagement Project outreach activities in Ohio, primarily by building and maintaining partnerships with staff, faculty, administrators and students on college campuses in the state and connecting them with additional resources, and advocating for higher education's engagement in democracy when necessary. She is available for phone, email and in-person support to Ohio colleges and universities wishing to empower their students to make change in our nation's policies.
Contact Gigi now and welcome her to the #CompactNation, or to request a Campus Election Engagement Project meeting.
