CE&S/CP&ES- 20hrs & Center of Hope- 20hrs Miami University Middletown Office of Community Engagement & Service/ Community Partnership & Educational Services VISTA (20 hrs. per week) " Replicate and establish America Reads/ America Counts/ Adopt-A-School programs in the Center of Hope for Women & Children for residents with children who need tutoring assistance in Math and Reading. o Recruit MUM students as volunteers or work-study students for these programs o Make classroom presentations on the benefits of participating in these programs and other service-learning based initiatives " Expand America Reads/ America Counts/ Adopt-A-School programs into the neighboring elementary schools, churches and community organizations who are seeking to establish tutoring and/or educational assistance programs. " Assist the Service-Learning Coordinator in planning community partner development programs for partners that are currently hosting and are potential hosts for BIS 301 service-learning students. " Participate and assist in the development of faculty based programs to promote service-learning within the MUM campus environment; working closely with the faculty learning community on service-learning. " Work collaboratively with Miami Oxford and Miami Middletowns Student Government to replicate and establish the Student Guide service program that will expand the civic involvement of Miami students and expand the capacity of the Middletown Office to recruit and retain student volunteers for various programming initiatives. Center of Hope for Women & Children  Daily/Evening Operations (20 hrs. per week) Daily  Supervise parents with children, residents with health problems and disabilities and residents who have appointments with other organizations who come to meet with them at Hope House. Answer the telephone, facilitate laundry appointments, hand out medications, greet and assist volunteers and donors. Evening  Take in new residents and explain our policies, supervise and keep general order with residents. Keep the building secure and safe for those who are being housed here. Pass out clean linens after dinner along with personal hygiene items. Make sure residents receive messages and mail that is for. Clean and disinfect rooms when residents leave. Weekend  Provide the same services as day, evening and night shift descriptions shown above.
