Rose House in MayDear OCC members & friends,
Welcome to the February 2010 issue of the Ohio Campus Compact Newsletter.

This month we are spotlighting the article Voices from the Community: A Case for Reciprocity in Service-Learning by Lucia d' Arlach, Bernadette Sanschez and Rachel Feuer published in the Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning, Volume 16 Number 1, Fall 2009 pp, 5-16.

While a major tenet of community based service learning is the concept of reciprocity, few studies have examined how recipients of service view the service. This study asked nine community members who participated in a service-learning, language exchange program about their experiences. The program, Intercambio, paired Spanish-speaking Latino immigrants with English-speaking university students to teach each other their native language and culture.

Sincerely,
Richard Kinsley
Executive Director
