Ava graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Women's Studies from Allegheny College in 2014. She spent her first year of AmeriCorps VISTA service (2014-15) within the Reynoldsburg City School system, working to increase parent engagement programming and developing an elementary tutoring program. Ava decided to take on the role of Ohio Campus Compact (OCC) VISTA Leader after being inspired by the efforts of OCC's Connect2Complete program in action and being offered the opportunity to connect with a strong cohort of OCC AmeriCorps members.
Ava is a passionate and dedicated reader and her position with OCC provides plenty of reading suggestions on higher education and community engagement. Ava was delighted to discover that Paul Rogat Loeb's "Soul of a Citizen" gives mention to some of OCC's work. Ava also enjoys running, hiking, and is a vegan food enthusiast.
After completing her second year as an AmeriCorps VISTA, Ava plans on exploring where she fits in the world of higher education, be it teaching or student affairs.
